The APA is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for every child and young person in our sport. As part of this commitment, we are delivering a comprehensive safeguarding education program to ensure all members understand their responsibilities and the standards expected across all APA events.

This Child Safeguarding Workshop sets out the core expectations for safe practice and provides practical tools for anyone working with or around young athletes.

• Referees planning to sit Category 2 exams in 2026
• Anyone wishing to be considered for the 2026 international officiating team

Open invitation:
• Any APA member, including parents of sub-junior athletes

Workshop overview
This interactive, discussion-based session covers the practical realities of building and maintaining child-safe environments, including:

• How leadership and culture influence safe practice
• Identifying grooming, manipulation and predatory behaviours in sport
• Translating codes of conduct into everyday professional behaviour
• Conducting child-safe risk assessments
