Volunteer with Us!

Volunteer with the Australian Powerlifting Alliance

Volunteers are the foundation of powerlifting in Australia. At every local and national competition, volunteers ensure that events run smoothly, lifters are supported, and our community continues to grow.

Whether you're an athlete, coach, supporter, or first-time volunteer, there’s a place for you on the APA team.

Volunteer Requirements for Athletes

To help foster a culture of participation and sustainability, all athletes competing at a National, Championship must complete at least one volunteer session at a local-level APA competition prior to entering the event.

If you’re aiming for international selection, two volunteer sessions must be completed before the nomination period closes. One of these should be at a national-level competition.

How to Get Involved

Ongoing Volunteer Support Needed
The APA relies on the dedication of volunteers to deliver high-quality events throughout the year. If you have skills or experience you'd like to contribute, whether in logistics, media, administration, or another area, we encourage you to reach out. Your support is invaluable to the continued success of the sport.

Volunteer at a Local Competition
Contact your local Meet Director to arrange your shift. A list of competitions and contact details can be found on our Events Page.

Request an Exemption
If exceptional circumstances prevent you from completing a local volunteer session, you may request an exemption by emailing exemption@powerliftingalliance.org.au.
If granted, you will be required to volunteer at Nationals instead. This arrangement must be confirmed before entering the event.

Planning to Compete Internationally?
Athletes aiming for international teams must complete two sessions prior to nominations closing. Opportunities to volunteer at Sub-Junior, Junior, Masters, or Equipped Nationals will be advertised closer to competition dates. Athletes seeking selection to an international team must complete two designated sessions before the nomination deadline.  Completion of these requirements is mandatory prior to applying for a position on the international team.
