The application and selection process for the Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach roles have already been completed.
AVAILABLE ROLES
Platform Coach (PC) - the primary coach responsible during a lifters’ competition. This is the coach who follows the lifter onto the platform, hands in attempt cards, and is the primary decision maker.
Assistant Platform Coach (APC) - there to help the lifter and Platform Coach throughout a competition. The PC and APC work together during the session.
PRE-REQUISITES
Hold a current Working with Children Check
Have completed the APA Coaching Accreditation or an equivalent certification (link here)
Successful applicants will be required to pay the associated costs for their involvement on the team including but not limited to flights, accommodation, trasnfers, visas and entry fees.
Successful applicants will be required to purchase the team uniform.
APPLICATION ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Applications will be assessed based on their responses to a series of questions in the application, focusing on the folowing key areas:
Pre-Requisites:
Meets all required qualifications and criteria for the role
Knowledge:
Understanding of powerlifting rules & competition protocols
Preparation skills, including athlete research and competition readiness
Experience and ability to advise on weigh-ins, performance management and competition strategies
Strong work ethics and ability to work with a diverse range of athletes
Skill in recognising and responding to athlete cues and needs
Strategy:
Effective game-day preaparation, including attempt planning and execution
Ability to maintain athlete focus by managing external pressures
Attention to detail, quick thinking and adapability under pressure
Balancing individual athlete success with overall team performance
Ability to monitor and adapt based on other athlete's performances.
Relationships and Leadership:
Clear, respectful and open communication with athletes and coaching staff
Ability to provide constructive feedback and emotional support
Proven ability to build positive relationships and foster a cohesive team culture
Fair, impartial and supportive approach to all athletes and coaches
Strong leadership qualities, including team-building, collaboration and the ability to create a positive and enjoyable environment.
Responses will be evaluated based on the depth of experience, alignment with APA values, and demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to the coaching team.
